Contraction rate, average word length, common-word share and sentence-length variance between them account for most of what people mean when they call writing formal, stiff, warm or brisk. The readout gives you each one.

The most useful application is consistency. Build a Style DNA from writing whose tone you like, then measure any new draft against it, the trait comparison shows precisely which habit drifted.

FAQ

No, and be sceptical of tools claiming to. What it measures is register, which is observable, rather than sentiment, which is inferred.

Yes, build a Style DNA from writing in the tone you want, and every later draft is measured against it.

Yes, though below about 25 words the measurements get noisy. Paste a few emails together for a stabler reading.

The writing analysis and your Style DNA run in your browser. For a real AI score, the text you check is sent to an AI-detection provider, and we never store it. When you rewrite on a paid plan, the draft is sent to our server, rewritten and sent back without being stored. AI features (rewriting, humanizing and Copilot) send the text to Cloudflare Workers AI, which processes it and doesn't keep it.
