The best AI humanizer in 2026

By Sourabh Singh18 September 20269 min read

Ten tools, one 500-word draft, and a sentence-level readout of what each one actually changed.

Almost every ranking of AI humanizers is published by an AI humanizer. Each one puts itself first, quotes a bypass rate it cannot verify, and moves on. We are a humanizer too, so treat this page with the same suspicion, the difference is that everything below is either a number you can check yourself or a measurement you can reproduce with our free analyser.

The short answer

  • Best known, and priced accordingly: Undetectable AI, $9.99/mo list, permanently discounted to $5/mo annually, 10,000 words.
  • Best free option that is genuinely free: QuillBot's humanizer, bundled into a suite most students already have open.
  • Best word ceiling for heavy volume: WriteHuman Ultra at $39/mo annually, unlimited requests at 3,000 words each.
  • Best if you want to know why a sentence was flagged: TextAsMe, because nothing else in the category explains its own flags.
  • Worst value: anything charging above $30/mo for a single-purpose rewriter.

What the market actually costs

Prices below were read from each vendor's live pricing page in September 2026. Where a page was unreachable we say so rather than guessing.

ToolEntry (annual)MonthlyVolume at entry
Undetectable AI$5.00$9.9910,000 words/mo
WriteHuman$12$2080 requests, 600 words each
Phrasly$10.99$19.99Unlimited
Walter Writes AI$8$12Free tier, then unlimited at $28
StealthWritern/a$2050 humanizations/day
QuillBotFreeFreeUnlimited, inside the suite
GrammarlyFreeFreeUnlimited, inside the suite
TextAsMeFreeFreeUnlimited, no account

Two things jump out. First, Undetectable AI's list price has been struck through for so long that $9.99 is not really its price, $5 is. Second, the two largest brands in the category give the feature away, which is what caps everybody else. If a standalone humanizer wants more than $20 a month it has to do something QuillBot does not, and most of them do not.

Where each tool earns its place

Undetectable AI is the default recommendation in the category and has the user base to match, more than 24 million users. Its output is competent and its humanization dial is genuinely useful for picking a register. What you are paying for is the brand and the word quota, not a measurable quality lead.

WriteHuman is the only tool holding a premium price with a straight face, and the reason is its privacy pledge: it does not store your content. For ghostwriters and anyone under an NDA that is worth real money. Note that its best output sits behind the Pro tier, the Basic plan runs a weaker model.

Phrasly is the volume play. Unlimited words at $10.99 a month annually, three strength levels, and a $2 three-day trial that is the cheapest honest way to evaluate any tool in this list. Its Trustpilot rating is the strongest in the category.

Walter Writes AI restructures sentence rhythm rather than swapping synonyms, which is the right approach, and its free tier is usable. It is also the tool Gemini names first when asked to rank the category, which tells you more about its content marketing than its engine.

QuillBot and Grammarly both ship a free humanizer, and both attach a disclaimer that it is not for evading detection. That disclaimer is not squeamishness, it is where the category is going. Google's own AI Overview for "ai humanizer" now leads with QuillBot's version of it.

The thing none of them do

Every tool above returns a number and a rewrite. None of them tells you which of your habits produced the number. That matters because the rewrite is a one-off, you paste, you copy, you learn nothing, and the next draft has the same problem.

A sentence flagged for metronome rhythm, a dead metaphor, a stock transition or an absence of concrete detail is a fixable habit. Shown once, most writers stop producing it. That is the case for a heatmap over a percentage, and it is why we built the thing this way.

Run the same draft through our analyser and compare what you get back.

One caveat worth more than the rankings

Detector accuracy moves every few months, and every bypass percentage you read, ours included, if we published one, is stale within weeks. More importantly, detectors produce false positives, disproportionately on writing by non-native English speakers. If you are using these tools to polish your own work, you are fine. If you are using them to submit someone else's thinking as your own, no entry on this list solves that problem, and we would rather say so than sell around it.

Common questions

It depends on the job. Undetectable AI is the best known, QuillBot's humanizer is the best genuinely free option, and WriteHuman Ultra has the highest word ceiling for heavy volume. TextAsMe is the pick if you want to know why a sentence was flagged.

Its list price is $9.99/mo, permanently discounted to $5/mo billed annually, with 10,000 words a month.

Yes. QuillBot and Grammarly both ship a free humanizer with no word cap inside their suites, and TextAsMe is free with unlimited use and no account. Both QuillBot and Grammarly attach a disclaimer that theirs is not for evading detection.

No. Detector accuracy moves every few months, so any bypass percentage is stale within weeks. Detectors also produce false positives, disproportionately on writing by non-native English speakers.
